My name is Anastasiia and I am an ESOL learner and Food Bank volunteer at the Renewal Programme. I am originally from Russia but I moved to the UK with my family.
I first came across the Renewal Programme in January 2020 through Migrant Help and I enrolled on the Training and Education project to better my English. Over time, as my English improved, I applied to volunteer in the Food Bank because I really enjoy helping people.
The help – the food bank, support and empowering attitude – that the Renewal Programme provides is very useful for vulnerable people and I find that interacting with the staff, other volunteers and service users at the organisation really inspires me.
To me, the Renewal Programme means hope.
