UPDATED: 6th January
Given the current COVID-19 situation, we at the Renewal Programme are working incredibly hard to ensure that residents of Newham remain safe and well, whilst providing a consistent, cornerstone service to the borough.
COVID-19 Emergency Appeal – Donate Here.
We’re working incredibly hard to ensure that even the most vulnerable members of our community are still looked after and have access to resources they may need.
The need for food parcels is urgent; our food bank, organised by our Refugee and Migrant Project, provides emergency relief packs to those in Newham who desperately need it. It’s extremely important to us that those in a position of need, including elderly & homeless people and those on low-income, as well as those with no recourse to public funds who relied on us before, have access to essential items throughout this unprecedented time.
A donation of £10 could help us buy essential items for our food bank.
A donation of £15 could help us provide a single person with an emergency food relief pack.
A donation of £20 could provide a single parent and child with an emergency food relief pack.
£45 could provide a family of four with an emergency food relief pack.
COVID-19 has placed a strain on resources like never before; there are more people to help, but less money to do it with, by ourselves. This is why we are turning to you today.
Please will you be there for your fellow community members by making a donation today?
It isn’t just our food bank your donation will support; the rest of our work continues to:
- our hostels remain open, providing supported housing – a safe place – for people who have nowhere else to go.
- our carers, that we support through our Carers Health Empowerment project, are going to be under considerably more stress as they need to self-isolate yet continue to provide care for loved ones. We need to be there for them more than ever.
- our teachers continue to provide lessons via distanced learning. Many students benefit from the group learning, but due to COVID-19, this simply isn’t possibly. Our teachers are working incredibly hard to help students learn English as a second language, mathematics and IT.
The Renewal Programme has been providing the above services for nearly 50 years. We do not intend to stop over the pandemic. You can help us continue our work, and make a difference today, by donating even the smallest of amount.
Our work is incredibly important to the borough of Newham and the community that makes it. We appreciate any support you are able to give.
Amended Services
Food Bank & Digital Inclusion
As a charity that exists to protect and care for the people of Newham, we are doing all we can to continue our work through this difficult time. Following government guidelines, and ensuring everyone’s safety where possible, our doors remain open to the local community who are most in need.
Our food bank will run on Tuesday’s and Friday’s, from 11am – 2pm, at 395 High Street North. We are keeping to strict social distancing rules and attendees must wear a mask upon entry.
Those attending our food bank will also have access to our digital inclusion services, which includes support with completing online documentation such as benefit applications, job searches and other relevant forms.
Chat Newham Befriending Service
Please call our FREE support line: 0808 196 3510
Please note that we are relaunching our volunteer led community support line ‘Chat Newham’. The lines will be open Monday – Friday, 10am – 4pm.
We ask that those seeking support to consider if there are other alternatives (e.g. family members, online delivery) before asking us for support as we would like to prioritise those that really need this service like people without access to public funds, living in shared accommodation, on low income, single parents etc.
In this time of crisis, we know our neighbours need us more than ever, especially those who are at high risk. We are grateful for our staff, volunteers and partners who are making this emergency response possible.
