It’s good to talk…
Sometimes all it takes is a friendly voice and good chat to lift our spirits and help us feel more positive. With this in mind, Newham Council have created Connect Newham.
What is Connect Newham?
Newham Council have partnered with the Renewal Programme, Subco Trust and Age UK to support vulnerable isolated people via telephone calls. In short, Connect Newham is Newham’s new telephone befriending service.
Who is Connect Newham for?
If you live in Newham and are aged 18+, live alone or care for someone on your own, and you are feeling lonely or isolated (for whatever reason), Connect Newham can help.
How does Connect Newham work?
The service has been designed to be accessed easily, safely and all from the comfort of your own home. There’s two steps to the process:
1. We’ll have an initial conversation, over the phone, where you can tell us a little about yourself and decide how many calls you would like, from 3 up to 20.
2. We match you with a fully trained Connect Newham volunteer for a weekly or fortnightly chat over the phone at a time that’s convenient for you.
We will signpost/refer into wider provision where a need for this is identified.
